Assistant Manager – The Ship Wandsworth

About The Ship

The Ship Wandsworth is a proper riverside pub with a big personality. Sitting right on the Thames, we’re known for great food, cold drinks, big events and a lively atmosphere that keeps our guests coming back.

From busy summer days on the riverside terrace to packed weekends, live music, sports, private events and our legendary Sunday sessions, there’s always something happening at The Ship. We’re looking for an Assistant Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to be right at the heart of it.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an ambitious, energetic and experienced Assistant Manager to join our management team and help lead The Ship to its next level.

You’ll be a key player in the day-to-day running of the pub, working closely with the General Manager to deliver exceptional service, great food and an atmosphere our guests want to come back to.

You’ll be someone who:

  • Leads from the front and sets the standard for the team
  • Has a genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
  • Is confident managing a busy, high-volume pub environment
  • Can motivate, coach and develop a team to perform at their best
  • Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in the standards of the pub
  • Is commercially minded and understands the importance of sales, labour and GP
  • Is confident dealing with guests, resolving issues and turning problems into positive experiences
  • Is organised, proactive and able to stay calm when the pub is firing on all cylinders
  • Wants to build a long-term career in hospitality and is ready for their next challenge

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
