Are you a hands-on Assistant Finance Manager looking for a role where you can genuinely make an impact?
We are working with a specialist Manufacturing & Engineering business in Chippenham to recruit an Assistant Finance Manager on a permanent basis.
Working closely with the Financial Director, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day finance operation while also playing an important role in strengthening and developing the function as the business continues to scale.
The business is currently going through an exciting period of growth and transformation following a recent acquisition. With the business targeting significant growth, there is a real opportunity for the successful candidate to help shape how finance operates going forward.
You won’t simply be processing numbers from the sidelines. You’ll have visibility across the business, working with finance, manufacturing and operations, while gaining exposure to the wider group internationally.
And with the FD looking to step back from the day-to-day finance operation over the next 12–18 months, there is a genuine potential pathway towards a Finance Manager-level position for the right person.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
