Assistant Finance Manager - Fixed Term 12 Month Contract
Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Working pattern: Hybrid
Contract: Fixed Term 12 Month Contract
Salary: £40,000–£45,000, depending on experience and qualifications
We are recruiting an Assistant Finance Manager to join a well-established business based in Crawley.
This is a hands-on, varied role supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function. You will take ownership of key month-end, reporting and financial-control activities, while working closely with finance leadership and colleagues across the wider business.
It is a great opportunity for an experienced Assistant Finance Manager, Management Accountant or strong Senior Finance Assistant looking for broader responsibility.
The role
- Support and coordinate month-end close activities
- Prepare management accounts, reporting packs and variance analysis
- Review journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
- Maintain strong balance-sheet control and investigate outstanding items
- Monitor inventory, receivables and payables, helping to improve working-capital performance
- Support cash management and identify potential risks or opportunities
- Assist with group reporting, audit preparation and statutory compliance activity
- Provide day-to-day support and guidance to a Finance Assistant
- Work with commercial and operational teams to provide accurate financial information and insight
- Support process improvements, finance projects and ad-hoc analysis

About you
- AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience
- Strong experience in management accounts, month-end and financial control
- Confident with balance-sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
- Commercially minded, organised and comfortable managing competing priorities
- A clear communicator who can build effective relationships across finance, operations and commercial teams
- Proactive, accurate and happy to get stuck into the detail
