We’re looking for an ambitious Assistant Manager to join the team at The Green Man in Harlow – a beautiful, historic country pub with plenty going on.
Originally a 14th-century coaching inn, The Green Man combines traditional character with a busy food and drink operation. With 58 bedrooms, a beer garden, countryside surroundings and a menu packed with pub classics and seasonal dishes, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves creating memorable experiences for guests.
Job Description
What you'll be doing
As Assistant Manager, you’ll be a key part of the leadership team, working closely with the General Manager to keep the pub running brilliantly.
You’ll be:
- Leading and inspiring the team to deliver great service every time
- Making sure our guests receive a warm welcome and have a brilliant experience
- Supporting the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the business
- Helping drive sales, standards and commercial performance
- Coaching and developing your team to reach their potential
- Taking ownership of shifts and making sure everything runs smoothly
- Maintaining high standards across service, food, safety and compliance
- Building strong relationships with both your team and our guests

Qualifications
What we're looking for
We’re looking for someone who is confident, hands-on and passionate about hospitality.
You’ll ideally have experience in a supervisory or management role within a busy pub, restaurant or hospitality environment, and be ready to take the next step in your career.
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who:
- Leads from the front and brings energy to every shift
- Cares about delivering a great guest experience
- Knows how to motivate and develop a team
- Is commercially aware and understands what makes a successful pub
- Can stay calm and make good decisions in a busy environment
- Wants to grow their career with Chef & Brewer and Greene King
