Role Description
The Assistant Manager role at Greene King in Edinburgh is a full-time, on-site position focused on supporting the daily operations of a busy pub or restaurant. The Assistant Manager will help lead and motivate the team, ensure exceptional customer service, and maintain high standards of food, drink, and venue presentation.

- Supporting staff scheduling
- Supervising shifts
- Assisting with stock control and ordering
- Monitoring compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations
- Handling customer queries and feedback
- Supporting local marketing and promotions
- Contributing to the achievement of sales and profitability targets
The Assistant Manager will work closely with the General Manager to develop team members, uphold Greene King values, and help create a welcoming environment for all guests.
Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality or retail management, with skills in team supervision, shift leadership, and day-to-day operational support.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to resolve issues, manage feedback, and build positive guest relationships.
- Basic knowledge of stock control, cash handling, and performance reporting, with an understanding of cost control and profitability.
- Awareness of health, safety, food hygiene, and licensing regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant environment.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to perform effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
- Previous experience as a supervisor or team leader in a pub, bar, restaurant, or similar environment is highly beneficial.
- Formal training or qualifications in hospitality, catering, or business management are an advantage but not essential.
