Job Description
🚀 What’s the opportunity?
As Assistant Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of The Kings Arms, working closely with the General Manager to lead the team, maintain high standards and help grow the business.
You’ll:
- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the pub.
- Take ownership of shifts and confidently lead the team in the GM's absence.
- Lead, coach and develop the team, helping people grow and perform at their best.
- Deliver consistently high standards across service, food, drinks and customer experience.
- Build strong relationships with customers and create a welcoming atmosphere that keeps them coming back.
- Help drive sales and identify opportunities to grow the business.
- Make the most of the riverside garden, food offer and key seasonal trading periods.
- Ensure the pub is fully prepared for busy services and different customer occasions.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure great communication and smooth service.
- Support with rotas, stock, cash management and other operational responsibilities.
- Champion health & safety, licensing and brand standards.
- Help create a positive team culture where people feel supported, valued and motivated.
- Bring fresh ideas and energy to help develop the pub and its customer base.
- Lead by example and be someone the team can rely on.

What We’re Looking For
We're looking for an Assistant Manager or experienced hospitality leader who:
- Has previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Team Leader or similar.
- Has experience working in a busy pub, restaurant, bar or hospitality environment.
- Is confident leading a team and taking ownership of a shift.
- Has strong communication skills and knows how to motivate and develop people.
- Takes genuine pride in delivering excellent customer service.
- Is commercially aware and understands how great hospitality can drive sales and repeat business.
- Can stay calm, organised and hands-on when things get busy.
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards across the pub.
- Is proactive, energetic and isn't afraid to get stuck in.
- Has a genuine passion for food, drinks and hospitality.
- Enjoys building relationships with customers and becoming part of the local community.
- Wants to develop their skills and progress their career with Greene King.
