Role Description
The Assistant Manager role at GSF Car Parts is a full-time, on-site position based in Daventry. The Assistant Manager supports the Branch Manager in overseeing daily branch operations, including coordinating staff schedules, monitoring performance, and ensuring a high level of customer service. This role involves assisting with stock control, inventory checks, and the accurate processing of orders to meet customer demand. The Assistant Manager helps to implement sales initiatives, supports the achievement of branch targets, and promotes products and services to independent garages and other customers. Day-to-day responsibilities also include handling customer queries and issues, maintaining a safe and compliant workplace, supporting staff training, and contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture.

- Experience in team leadership and people management, including coaching, performance support, and contributing to a positive work environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with trade customers and handle queries or concerns professionally.
- Operational and organizational skills, such as stock control, order processing, basic administration, and attention to detail in daily branch tasks.
- Sales and commercial awareness, including supporting sales targets, promoting products and services, and understanding key drivers of branch performance.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a practical approach to resolving operational issues and improving processes.
- Good numeracy and basic IT skills, including use of point-of-sale systems, inventory software, and standard office applications.
- Previous experience in the automotive aftermarket, retail, or trade counter environment is beneficial, though not essential.
- Ability to work on-site full-time in Daventry, including flexibility to support peak trading periods and branch needs.
- Valid driver’s license is an advantage, particularly for tasks involving local deliveries or customer visits.
