This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accountant looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive, collaborative, and modern working environment. Due to continued business growth and an expanding client portfolio, the team is looking to appoint an Assistant Manager to help lead the delivery of high-quality service charge accounting and advisory services.

You'll be joining a friendly, approachable team based in brand-new, modern offices, where flexibility, professional development, and work-life balance are genuinely encouraged.

Whether you're currently working within an accountancy practice, an internal finance team for a property business, or already specializing in service charge accounting, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As Assistant Manager, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of property clients, overseeing the preparation and review of service charge accounts while supporting and developing junior team members. Working closely with senior management, you'll play an important role in maintaining excellent client relationships and ensuring work is delivered accurately, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards.

This is a varied role offering a mix of technical accounting, client management, and team leadership responsibilities, with genuine opportunities for progression as the department continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of property and service charge accounting clients.
  • Review service charge accounts and financial statements prepared by the team.
  • Ensure assignments are completed accurately and delivered within agreed deadlines.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, providing excellent service and proactive advice.
  • Identify opportunities to support clients with additional services where appropriate.
  • Assist with planning workloads, resource allocation, and meeting client deadlines.
  • Review work in progress and support fee management.
  • Support and mentor junior members of the team through coaching, training, and performance reviews.
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
  • Work closely with senior leadership on complex client matters and technical queries.
  • Ensure compliance with current accounting standards and industry regulations.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys building client relationships, takes pride in delivering high-quality work, and enjoys supporting others to develop.

You'll Ideally Have

  • ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification (or be Qualified by Experience).
  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice, service charge accounting, or property finance.
  • Experience reviewing accounts and supporting junior staff.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Confidence working independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
