Position Summary
The HR Assistant Manager will provide hands-on support across the full employee lifecycle for the UK business. Working closely with the global HR team, employees, managers, payroll partners and benefit providers, this role will help deliver accurate, timely and employee-focused HR operations in a professional services environment.
The successful candidate will be organized, approachable and comfortable balancing administrative detail with day-to-day employee support. The role requires sound knowledge of UK HR practices, strong judgement when handling confidential information and the ability to follow matters through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and pre-employment
- Assist with recruitment administration, including job postings, interview coordination, candidate communications and maintenance of recruitment records.
- Prepare offer letters, employment contracts and other pre-employment documentation, escalating non-standard terms for review.
- Coordinate pre-employment checks and ensure required information is collected before onboarding begins.
Onboarding and employee lifecycle
- Coordinate onboarding tasks and system workflows, maintain accurate employee records and monitor completion of required documentation.
- Organize and deliver new hire orientation, helping new employees understand key policies, systems, benefits and workplace practices.
- Process employee changes, including contract amendments, transfers, promotions and changes to personal or employment information.
- Coordinate offboarding activities, including documentation, system updates, final payroll inputs, benefit notifications and exit procedures.

Employee support and leave administration
- Act as a first point of contact for routine employee and manager queries, providing clear and timely guidance or escalating more complex matters.
- Administer annual leave, sickness absence, family leave and other leave requests in accordance with company policy and UK requirements.
- Support consistent application of HR policies and maintain appropriate records while respecting confidentiality and data protection obligations.
Payroll, pensions and benefits
- Support monthly payroll activities by collecting, reviewing and submitting payroll changes and responding to payroll-related queries.
- Coordinate pension enrolments, opt-ins, opt-outs and employee updates, working with internal stakeholders and external providers as needed.
- Administer insurance and benefit enrolments, changes and terminations, and maintain accurate supporting records.
- Assist with payroll, pension and benefit reconciliations and follow up on discrepancies through resolution.
Compliance, policies and reporting
- Conduct periodic reviews of the UK employee handbook, policies, templates and employment documentation to identify areas requiring legal or operational review.
- Support implementation and communication of approved policy updates.
- Maintain accurate HRIS data and employee files and assist with periodic audits, reporting and data-quality checks.
- Prepare routine workforce reports and support HR projects and process improvements.

Office and employee experience support
- Coordinate office activities, employee events, recognition initiatives and other engagement activities.
- Partner with relevant teams to support a welcoming, organised and professional office environment.
- Perform any other duties as assigned in support of the HR function and business needs.
Global Support/Initiatives
- Support and contribute to global HR projects and initiatives from time to time, partnering with colleagues across multiple regions to assist with implementation, process improvements, data gathering, communications and other project-related activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Practical experience supporting recruitment, contracts, onboarding, employee changes and offboarding.
- Experience with payroll inputs, workplace pensions and employee benefit administration.
- Working knowledge of UK employment practices and confidence applying policies consistently.
- CIPD qualification (or working toward a qualification) is preferred but not required. Relevant UK HR experience will also be considered.
- Experience using an HRIS and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; Dayforce experience is advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated discretion, sound judgement and commitment to protecting confidential employee information.
