Up to £34,000 + Tronc

Harpers Steakhouse, part of the growing Upham Inns family, is looking for an Assistant Manager to join our team in Southampton.

This is more than just your next management role. You’ll work closely with the General Manager, play a key role in the day-to-day running of the business and have the opportunity to develop your skills and progress towards becoming a General Manager.

Your role

As Assistant Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the operation, working alongside the General Manager to ensure every service runs smoothly and every guest leaves wanting to come back.

You’ll Take An Active Role In

  • Leading, motivating and developing the front-of-house team
  • Creating consistently outstanding guest experiences
  • Supporting the full food and beverage operation
  • Driving sales, KPIs and overall operational performance
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, training and team development
  • Managing stock levels and maintaining high operational standards
  • Taking ownership of opening and closing procedures
  • Making confident decisions and solving problems when the pressure is on
  • Supporting the General Manager in delivering a successful and profitable business

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is ready to lead from the front and make a real difference to the team and the guest experience.

You’ll Ideally Have

  • Previous supervisory or management experience within hospitality
  • Proven leadership skills and a genuine interest in developing people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, reliable and fair approach
  • The confidence to make decisions and take ownership
  • The ability to remain calm and solutions-focused during busy periods
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
  • The flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
  • The right to work in the UK
