Job Description:
As Assistant Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day of Twelve Twenty. This is a hands-on, guest-facing role where energy, creativity and attention to detail matter. You’ll guide a confident front-of-house and bar team, maintain high operational standards, and ensure every service feels smooth, welcoming and full of personality.
You’ll also take ownership of our private function areas, terrace and outdoor spaces, ensuring they stay active, appealing and well used, working with our internal team to promote the spaces, drive bookings and deliver memorable occasions that fit the Twelve Twenty atmosphere.
You’ll work closely with the General Manager and the wider East Street Pub Company team to grow the venue, strengthen its reputation and create reasons for guests to keep returning.
Twelve Twenty is a well-established pub located in the heart of Newton Abbot, UK. We pride ourselves on serving delicious food and creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers. We are now looking for a talented and passionate Chef to join our team.

Customer Experience:
- Build strong relationships with customers, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that drives repeat visits.
- Maintain excellent service across brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks.
- Respond promptly to customer feedback and resolve complaints effectively.
- Handle feedback and reviews with confidence and a problem-solving mindset.
Operations Management:
- Oversee daily operations, including food and beverage service, cleanliness, and compliance with licensing laws and health and safety regulations.
- Ensure the smooth running of regular events, including live music and promotions.
- Support the kitchen team with menu presentation, consistency and quality.
Financial Management:
- Manage budgets, staffing levels and labour control.
- Oversee ordering, stock management and cost controls.
- Monitor weekly business performance and drive revenue-boosting initiatives.
- Maintain accurate financial records and cash handling procedures.
Marketing & Promotions:

- Work with our internal marketing team on promotions, social media content and campaigns.
- Ensure the venue feels fresh, relevant and present in the town.
- Help develop events, themed nights and experiences that strengthen Twelve Twenty’s identity.
About You:
- Proven experience in pub management or a similar hospitality role.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound knowledge of licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and financial management.
- Passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
