Company Description
Bread Ahead is an artisan bakery and baking school founded in 2013 by Matthew Jones, a baker with over 25 years of experience. The company is dedicated to bringing high-quality baking to a wide audience through its fresh produce, bakery shops, and teaching. Bread Ahead supplies daily baked goods to Borough Market customers and local restaurants and delis, and operates popular baking schools in Borough Market, Pavilion Road in Chelsea, and Beak Street in Soho. The Baking School offers a range of workshops, from doughnuts and Great British baking to Nordic and gluten-free classes, led by experienced bakery tutors. Bread Ahead also shares its expertise through published recipes, including its cookbook “Baking School: The Bread Ahead Cookbook.”
Job Summary
Bread Ahead is looking for an ambitious and hands-on Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day operation of our Wembley restaurant. Working alongside the General Manager and Head Chef, you will help lead a busy team, deliver exceptional guest experiences, maintain high operational standards and support the commercial success of the business.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced hospitality supervisor or assistant manager looking to develop their leadership career within one of London's most recognised artisan bakery and restaurant brands.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager in leading daily restaurant operations.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure consistently high hospitality standards.
- Lead and motivate front of house teams during service.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and team development.
- Support labour scheduling, stock control, and waste management.
- Handle customer feedback and resolve complaints professionally.
- Monitor sales performance and help drive revenue opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, and company policies.
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, presentation, and brand execution.
- Step into a duty management role in the Restaurant Manager's absence.

Must Have
- Previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Duty Manager, or similar hospitality leadership role.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Passion for food, hospitality, and exceptional customer service.
- Commercially aware with experience managing labour, sales, and operational standards.
- Calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and event days.
