Job Summary

Experienced Jewellery Sales Professional

Whites Jewellers in Tenterden, Kent is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic jewellery professional to join our team. We are looking for someone who has a genuine passion for jewellery and delivering an exceptional level of customer service. This is an opportunity for an experienced jewellery retailer to become an important part of a customer-focused, independent jewellers.

The Ideal Candidate Requirements

You will ideally have a proven track record of 5+ years’ experience working in jewellery retail and be confident dealing with customers across all aspects of the sales process.

You will be:

  • Well presented, professional, and well spoken
  • Warm, approachable, and confident with customers
  • Passionate about jewellery and providing outstanding customer service
  • Comfortable working in a busy, customer-driven retail environment
  • Confident discussing jewellery, precious metals, gemstones, and prestigious watches with customers
  • A strong communicator with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work independently while also contributing positively to a small team
  • Reliable, organised, and commercially aware
  • A full UK driving licence holder

Desirable Experience (Nice to have's!)

The following experience would be particularly advantageous:

  • Experience using a jewellery retail POS system
  • Knowledge and experience of antique and vintage jewellery, including Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco, and other historical periods
  • Experience handling jewellery repairs, from initial customer consultation through to completion
  • Experience liaising with and managing work through external workshops and jewellery manufacturers
  • Existing knowledge of jewellery valuations, gemstones, precious metals, and hallmarking
  • Jewellery education qualifications, such as JET 1 or JET 2, would be a strong advantage

The Role

The successful candidate will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the store, including:

  • Supporting the store manager in all areas of the business, including staff management
  • Providing exceptional, personalised customer service
  • Selling fine jewellery and watches
  • Building long-term relationships with customers
  • Advising customers on jewellery, gemstones, and precious metals
  • Handling jewellery repairs and liaising with external workshops
  • Using our POS and retail systems
  • Maintaining high standards of presentation across the showroom
  • Supporting the wider team with the smooth running of the store
