Role Description
The Assistant Mechanical Engineer will support the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects, working closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with mechanical system design, preparing technical drawings and specifications, performing calculations, and contributing to energy and building performance assessments. The role involves supporting research into sustainable and low-carbon solutions, coordinating with the in-house modelling team, and helping to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

The position is full time and hybrid, based in Stockport with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week. The Assistant Mechanical Engineer will also assist with project documentation, client communication, and general project management tasks as required.

Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with knowledge of building services and mechanical systems design.
- Experience or training in Machine Design and related mechanical components used in building services applications.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for producing drawings, models, and technical documentation.
- Ability to support Project Management activities, including planning, coordination, and tracking of project tasks.
- Interest and capability in Research and Development (R&D), particularly in sustainable technologies and low-carbon solutions.
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Basic understanding of BIM processes and collaborative design environments is advantageous.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and numeracy skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Willingness to learn, adapt to new technologies, and work in a hybrid Stockport-based environment.
