Job Title: Assistant Merchandiser

Reporting To: Head of Merchandiser

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: Competitive

Location: Hybrid with at least 3 days a week at head office - NW1 8AH

Working Hours: 8:45am – 5:30pm Flexi-time schemes based around core working hours.

About the Role

The Merchandising team at House of Baukjen play a key role in realising the commercial opportunities created by our product across Baukjen and Isabella Oliver, online and through our partners. The Assistant Merchandiser is responsible for supporting the Merchandiser in delivering the planning and trading strategy, by driving income through effective stock and intake management, maximising online visual merchandising, maintaining accurate stock reports and protecting availability on our never out of stock lines. The Assistant Merchandiser will take ownership of the weekly delivery tracking, and will work closely with Production, Ecommerce and Marketing to ensure that the right product lands at the right time and is presented to the customer in the best possible way.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assists the Merchandiser with providing accurate, relevant weekly trade analysis and stock cover to maximise income across all channels
  • Demonstrates commercial awareness through delivering concise category and line performance, suggesting actions on repeats
  • Responsible for delivery management, owning the intake calendar and tracking every order from placement through to warehouse receipt
  • Supporting Catalogue launches, and sales tracking
  • Works closely with Production, resolve delays and re-phase intake so that launches land on time, alignment with marketing and digital teams
  • Responsible for online visual merchandising of product listing pages, positioning newness, best sellers and key trade priorities to maximise conversion
  • Regularly reviews site sorting, category structure and product grouping using sales and traffic data, and completes site walks to check availability, imagery and pricing are correct
  • Works with Ecommerce and Creative to ensure launches, campaigns and promotions are reflected on site accurately and on time
  • Builds and maintains accurate seasonal line cards covering product order quantities
  • Responsible for never out of stock (NOOS) lines, monitoring availability by size and colour weekly and raising repeat orders in good time to prevent lost sales
  • Analyses size ratios and rates of sale on core lines to refine buy depths, reducing both stockouts and overstocks
  • Reports on NOOS availability and lost sales, driving improvements with Buying and Production
  • Efficient use of all merchandising systems, assisting in creating new or improving existing reports and processes
  • Openness to take on additional admin tasks where necessary

Job Role Competencies:

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, building clear reports)
  • Computer literate and ability to learn new systems

Key Experience Required:

  • Previous experience at Assistant Merchandiser level, or an established Merchandising Admin Assistant, within fashion or lifestyle retail
  • Experience in an online-led or omni-channel business is highly desirable
  • Experience of ecommerce site merchandising, ideally on Shopify, is an advantage
  • Competent in AI, keen to implement new ways of working
