Assistant Merchandiser – Next

We’re looking for highly motivated Assistant Merchandisers to join Next, a FTSE 100 fashion brand – the UK’s second-largest fashion retailer, with a global presence.
Assistant Merchandiser is available across our key departments:
- Women’s Wear
- Womenswear Non-Clothing
- Menswear
- Childrenswear
- Brands
Your Core Responsibilities
Building Strategic Partnerships
- Fostering relationships with new, existing, and potential suppliers/brand partners to unlock growth.
- Acting as the main point of contact with Brand Partners, ensuring professionalism, persuasion, and mutually beneficial outcomes.
Data-Driven Trading & Performance Analysis
- Tracking in-season sales performance, inventory levels, and discounts to identify trends and opportunities.
- Developing profit-maximising strategies by analysing discrepancies and capitalising on innovative insights.
Formulating & Presenting Range Strategies
- Crafting assortment plans, pricing structures, and product features based on market demand and consumer trends.
- Presenting proposals visually compellingly in internal and external meetings, addressing stakeholder questions with expertise.
Evaluating Performance & Optimising Efficiency
- Assessing past season performance, internal KPIs, and supplier effectiveness, pinpointing growth areas.
- Driving continuous improvement through actionable strategies addressing risks and inefficiencies.

Maintaining Systems & Operational Accuracy
- Ensuring updates and accuracy in merchandising platforms, contracts, sizing, and forecasting.
- Preparing and reporting daily sales data to Brand Partners.
Budget Control & Cost Efficiency
- Monitoring budgets and negotiating efficient supplier terms to maximise ROI.
- Optimising resource allocation and mitigating financial risks.
Mentoring & Task Management
- Guiding trainees and junior assistants, delegating tasks, and providing feedback.
- Enhancing their skills and confidence through supportive coaching.

Communication: Clarity & Confidence
- Presenting convincing proposals with clarity to senior stakeholders.
- Tailoring messaging for internal teams and partner discussions.
- Exhibiting trust-building trust in professional dealings.
Technical Merchandising Expertise
- Analysing sales data, forecasts, and market research with precision.
- Negotiating supply contracts while maintaining accuracy in reporting.
- Staying abreast of industry advancements in trend analysis and cost management.
