Company Description
vocō Zeal Exeter Science Park is IHG’s first net zero carbon hotel, opened in February 2025 and located at the entrance to Exeter Science Park, a hub for leading science, technology, engineering, maths, and medicine businesses in the South West. This 4-star hotel is designed for environmentally conscious travelers, offering 142 stylish bedrooms and modern amenities. Guests enjoy a restaurant and bar that highlight locally sourced produce, a mini gym, landscaped gardens, and flexible meeting spaces with adjacent capacity for up to 200 people. The hotel is fully electric and features a car park equipped with 12 EV charging points, reflecting its strong commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Role Description
The Assistant Night Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at vocō Zeal Exeter Science Park in Exeter. This role supports the Night Manager in overseeing nightly hotel operations, ensuring guest safety, comfort, and an excellent overnight experience. Daily responsibilities include:

- Supervising night team members
- Managing check-in and check-out processes
- Handling guest inquiries and resolving issues
- Monitoring the lobby and public areas for cleanliness and security
- Completing night audits
- Reconciling daily financial transactions
- Preparing handover reports
- Coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth transitions between night and day shifts

This position contributes to maintaining brand standards, upholding sustainability practices, and promoting a welcoming, inclusive environment for guests and team members.
Qualifications
- Experience in front office or hotel operations, including guest check-in/check-out, reservations handling, and night audit procedures.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to resolve guest issues calmly and professionally.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience, including task delegation, performance support, and shift coordination.
- Basic financial and administrative skills, such as cash handling, reconciliation, reporting, and use of property management systems.
- Awareness of health, safety, and security procedures, with a proactive approach to maintaining a safe environment.
- Ability to work night shifts on a full-time basis, with reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- Comfort with technology, including hotel systems, email, and standard office software.
- Hospitality, hotel, or customer-facing service experience preferred; a relevant qualification in hospitality or business is an advantage.
- Commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and delivering high-quality guest experiences aligned with vocō and IHG brand values.
