We are looking for a passionate Assistant Nursery Deputy Manager, responsible for supporting our 0s to 2s unit, to join our warm, welcoming, and nurturing nursery. Our children thrive, staff feel valued, and we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality care and education, and we are looking for a leader who shares our commitment to excellence and child-centred learning.

About the Role
Abacus Day Nursery, part of the Complete Childcare Group, is looking for a compassionate, bold, and reflective leader to join our close-knit management team as Assistant Nursery Deputy and Baby Unit Lead. This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced early years practitioner who is ready to step into senior leadership — someone who loves working with the very youngest children and is passionate about making every day extraordinary for them.
You will sit within a supportive four-person leadership team alongside the Nursery Manager, Deputy, and third-in-charge, reporting directly to the Nursery Manager. You'll play a key role in the smooth running of the setting, stepping up to cover managerial responsibilities when needed.
What you'll do
- Lead either our big nest or little nest Baby Unit, alongside another baby room lead, with warmth and expertise
- Support and inspire practitioners day to day
- Oversee planning, observation, and assessment
- Manage safeguarding and health & safety
- Build strong partnerships with parents
- Liaise with outside agencies and specialists
- Conduct supervisions and appraisals

About you
- Minimum Level 3 qualified in childcare
- 3+ years post-qualifying experience in day care
- Strong knowledge of EYFS and Development Matters
- Experience in a senior or leadership position
- Excellent communication with children and families
- Calm, organised, and proactive approach
- Committed to reflective, inclusive practice
