Assistant Operations Manager

Location: Glasgow Schools Account (Site Based)

Contract Type: Multiple Opportunities Available - Permanent & Fixed Term Contracts

Salary: Competitive Salary + Company Car/Car Allowance

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, with flexibility required to meet business needs.

We are excited to offer a number of fantastic opportunities for Assistant Operations Managers to join our Glasgow Schools Account.

This is a key leadership role supporting the day-to-day delivery of Facilities Management services across a portfolio of schools in Glasgow. Working alongside the Operations Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring high standards of service delivery, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence across our education estate.

Leading a workforce of approximately 50 cleaning colleagues, you will help create safe, clean, and welcoming environments for students, staff, and visitors. This is an excellent opportunity for a people-focused leader who enjoys building high-performing teams, improving service standards, and making a real difference within local communities.

What You Will Do

  • Support the Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of the Glasgow Schools Account.
  • Lead and develop a team of approximately 50 cleaning operatives, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, and service delivery.
  • Drive operational excellence across multiple school sites, ensuring contractual standards, KPIs, and compliance requirements are consistently achieved.
  • Build strong relationships with school leadership teams and key stakeholders, acting as a trusted operational partner.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and reviews to maintain quality standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment, training, and resource deployment to ensure effective service delivery across the account.

What You Will Bring

Essential

  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing large operational teams within a Facilities Management, Cleaning, or Soft Services environment.
  • Proven ability to manage attendance, welfare, employee relations, and performance matters.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Cleaning or Facilities Management background.
  • Experience working within education, PFI, or public sector environments.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification or willingness to obtain.
  • Facilities Management or Operational Management qualification.
  • Experience working within KPI and SLA-driven contracts.
