We are recruiting for an Assistant Planning Manager
We are recruiting for an Assistant Planning Manager to join our Public Sector Construction team on a major new project in Oakham, Rutland as part of our DEOP (Defence Estate Optimisation Portfolio) framework of projects with the MoD.
As a Bovis Assistant Planner, you will support the planning and monitoring of large and complex projects, either as an individual or as part of a project planning team, potentially from bid to completion. You will work with our Planning Managers, Project, and Operations Team to support the development of the most efficient project methodology and programme and then support the execution of the plan to the timely delivery of bids and projects.

Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Planner primarily supports the project planning function. This involves assisting with the development of project programmes and delivery strategies for bids and projects. They are responsible for producing data to support regular status updates and project dashboards and aiding the project team in creating and updating medium and short-range programmes. This role typically includes learning to apply planning procedures, reviewing basic change proposals for time impact, and recording as-built production rates to contribute to project benchmarking.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Behaviours
Essential Skills
- Ability to produce reports and diagrams to a high standard to convey proposed sequences and methodologies.
- Strong use of Excel (use of formulae, pivot tables, etc).
- Good communication skills and the ability to adapt approach dependent on the situation and audience.
- 4D BIM software knowledge would be desirable, and use of Power BI and other data tools.
Essential Knowledge
- Working knowledge of Oracle P6.
- Understanding of CPA planning techniques and project controls.
- Understanding of construction methodology, building technology, pre-construction processes, and procurement methods.
- Understanding of the primary forms of construction contracts and the key commercial terms.

- Practical experience in working with the NEC form of contract.
- Previous experience of construction-related work.
- Experience of using data tools to analyse programme and other information.
- Experience of working under different forms of construction contract.
- Understanding and experience in the use of Oracle P6, MS Tools - PowerPoint, Word, etc.
