We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated Band 4 Assistant Practitioner with a specialist interest in older adult assessment and rehabilitation to join the Allied Health Professional (AHP) team within the Older People’s Service at Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI). The successful candidate will work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team alongside Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Healthcare Support Workers, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to older adults with complex health needs.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • Permanent Role
  • 29 Hours Per Week
  • Glasgow Royal Infirmary
  • Working 5 Days over 7

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Practitioner will support the delivery of early assessment, rehabilitation, treatment and discharge planning for older adults with a range of co-morbidities. Working within delegated competencies and under the guidance of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, the post holder will independently manage a delegated caseload from assessment through to discharge, contributing to hospital flow and timely patient discharges. The role involves delivering clinical interventions, monitoring patient progress, making onward referrals to community services, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes. The post holder will also undertake a range of clinical and non-clinical tasks, support service development initiatives, and maintain high standards of patient care while working within agreed competency frameworks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
