Assistant Practitioner Role in Central Youth Service

We are looking for people interested in the Assistant Practitioner role in our Central Youth service. The service itself is a community mental health team for young people aged between 14 and 25 years old, staffed by a range of professionals across various disciplines.

We are looking for two committed and enthusiastic Assistant Practitioners to work within our team, to help deliver brief interventions to service users as well as their carers and families. These roles are specifically aimed at working to reduce our current treatment waiting lists.

The role is a community-based one with an opportunity to travel to meet young people, but will also operate from 80 St Stephens Street, Norwich.

The working patterns are flexible, and we are happy to receive applications from those who want part-time as well as full-time.

Whilst experience working with children and young people would make you perfectly suited to this role, we are really open to welcoming people from a variety of different backgrounds who have experience in other areas of mental health. We understand that you will be able to bring with you a wealth of skills and experience to the team and would welcome ways of thinking.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
