Our Social Care Community Engagement (SCCE) Team is at the forefront of implementing the "Human Learning Systems approach" - Norfolk's approach to delivering a new model of social care. This tried and tested method focuses on strengthening our front door and encouraging social care professionals to have meaningful conversations with individuals to create better outcomes. Our new model moves away from process-driven 'hand-offs' and promotes connecting with local networks and community support. By fostering these genuine interactions, we aim to enhance the quality of care and support available in our neighbourhoods and communities.
In this role, you will need excellent communication, record-keeping and keyboard skills, along with experience of working with individuals who require care and support. A commitment to excellent customer service and the ability to manage a high turnover of work in an organised and efficient manner are essential.
You should also have a strong commitment to multidisciplinary working and be familiar with the department’s eligibility criteria. To accomplish our goals, we are committed to equipping our team members with the skills and resources necessary to engage meaningfully with those we serve. Regular individual supervision, peer group support and access to appropriate training will be provided to assist your learning and development.
Our approach prioritises personalised care that recognises the unique circumstances and needs of each individual. By fostering strong relationships and empowering individuals, we aim to create a collaborative environment where everyone can thrive.
Adult Social Services in Norfolk is on an ambitious, exciting transformation journey. We're redesigning how we work to create a system that is flexible, human, and focused on better outcomes. As part of this journey, you'll contribute to an environment where learning is continuous, insight is shared, and innovation is encouraged.
We support flexible and hybrid working, with a minimum expectation of two days per week spent in a community or office setting, helping you stay connected with colleagues, communities and the people we support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
