Assistant Principal – Sixth Form | Lewisham
Are you an experienced senior leader with a strong understanding of sixth-form education? This Assistant Principal – Sixth Form opportunity in Lewisham offers the chance to play a key role in the strategic leadership of a secondary school, with specific responsibility for the academic progress, pastoral provision and wider development of sixth-form students, with a clear temp-to-perm pathway.
Working as an Assistant Principal – Sixth Form
You will provide strategic leadership across Years 12 and 13, working closely with the Principal and senior leadership team to ensure students receive high-quality teaching, strong pastoral support and effective preparation for university, employment and their next steps.

This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, with the successful candidate having the opportunity to secure a permanent Assistant Principal position with the school following the temporary period.

Your responsibilities will include
- Providing strategic leadership across the sixth form.
- Monitoring student progress and implementing strategies to improve outcomes.
- Leading on sixth-form attendance, behaviour and student engagement.
- Supporting Heads of Department and teachers to maintain high expectations for post-16 teaching.
- Overseeing student progression, UCAS applications, careers and destinations.
- Developing effective enrichment and personal development opportunities.
- Working with students, parents and staff to address academic and pastoral concerns.
- Supporting the development of sixth-form policies, systems and improvement plans.
- Contributing to wider school improvement as a member of the senior leadership team.
The successful Assistant Principal – Sixth Form will
- Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Have substantial experience teaching within a secondary and sixth-form environment.
- Have proven experience of middle or senior leadership.
- Have a strong understanding of post-16 curriculum, assessment and progression.
- Be confident analysing student performance and using data to drive improvement.
- Have experience leading pastoral or academic systems.
- Understand the university, apprenticeship and employment pathways available to sixth-form students.
- Be an ambitious and reflective school leader with high expectations for students and staff.
