Assistant Category Manager/Assistant Procurement Manager

Contract: ASAP start until 28th May 2027

Rate: £150-£250 per day via PAYE or £204-£339 per day via Umbrella

Location: SW1P, London (fully site-based, with a maximum of 1 day working from home per week)

JOB PURPOSE

Occupying a position within the Commercial Procurement team, this role is responsible for partnering with the Marketing Function to deliver optimum commercial outcomes and deliver directly to Client's P&L. The Commercial Procurement team have a global remit working across the central corporate function and locally with individual regions.

This role will support both strategic projects and day-to-day activities across Marketing Categories and will work with a range of stakeholders across our offices in London and Leeds, and our international procurement colleagues. The primary responsibility of the role is delivery of key procurement processes to Client and the functioning of the Commercial Procurement team by supporting the Senior Manager Procurement in project execution, executing sourcing events, spend/category analysis, new supplier onboarding including supplier due diligence and contract management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Assisting in category management as directed by the Senior Manager to build the capability and capacity of the global Procurement function
  • Enhance collaboration with internal stakeholders across all regions to improve alignment and achieve business objectives
  • Take an active role in lifting the activities of the procurement team to Best-in-Class level
  • Support category planning processes, including assisting the Category Manager and Senior Manager with procurement activity planning and project delivery for the year ahead utilising spend cube and other analytics to deliver data-driven insights to the business
  • Collaboration with Legal to ensure quality contracts are in place with credible suppliers (where applicable)
  • Executing sourcing events (RFI/RFP/Auction) providing analysis, levelling, negotiation and recommendation
  • New supplier due diligence and onboarding
  • Contract archiving and management of contract database
  • Provide regular reporting on savings, projects and supplier performance
  • Engaging and managing stakeholders and suppliers, including responding to Procurement related queries from across category (Ask Procurement)
  • Participate in ad hoc projects to support Client Forward providing procurement process expertise and input across a variety of indirect spend areas in category

Measures of Success:

  • Delivery of agreed projects, as agreed with the Senior Manager, which may include:
    • Year on year increase in managed category spend in line with procurement strategy targets (subject to agreed business dependencies)
    • Achieving personal savings target for the category
    • Contracts implemented for high risk/high spend or vendors where it is appropriately required
    • Executing sourcing events using data insights
    • Timely onboarding of new suppliers
    • Timely response to procurement related queries from the business (Ask Procurement)
    • Delivery of processes in line with Client policies
    • Be seen as a valued business partner to Stakeholders across the category
    • Successful hand-back of projects to the returning Assistant Category Manager on their return from leave

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 3-5 years experience in a commercial or operational procurement function or Strategic sourcing role
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to inspire trust and confidence
  • Ability to take ownership of the completion of tasks as well as identifying issues and potential resolutions as part of the completion
  • Great customer facing skills ensuring that business stakeholders are satisfied with the services delivered
  • Ability to deliver tangible results whilst working in a challenging and ever changing environment
  • Ability to face and resolve multiple issues in a collaborative manner
  • Good Excel / analytical and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self-motivated, high energy level, and a positive attitude
  • Comfortable working in a flexible environment
  • Flexible, prepared to get into the detail, as well as see the big picture
