Assistant Producer (Religious Programming Department) – Islam Channel Limited

About the Role

The Assistant Producer is responsible for developing and producing high-quality, original content—including programmes, series, and podcasts across religious, current affairs & news, lifestyle, factual, and documentary genres—for a global Muslim audience.

Reporting to: Head of Religious Programming

Key Responsibilities

Content Development & Production

  • Work with the team to develop and produce high-quality, original content from concept to completion across platforms
  • Ensure projects align with Islam Channel’s vision, budget, and timeline
  • Lead the development phase, including:
    • Conducting research
    • Writing treatments and scripts
    • Pitching ideas and securing suitable guests, presenters, or panellists
    • Managing correspondence via email, phone, or social media

Pre-Production & Management

  • Organise kick-off meetings with stakeholders and brief teams/crew before shoots
  • Manage departmental teams (if applicable) while offering mentorship to volunteers, interns, graduates, and researchers
  • Coordinate social media content (e.g., current affairs posts for Islam Channel)
  • Plan and execute location shoots, ensuring production requirements are met

Technical & Creative Contributions

-Preferably able to present religious shows on camera -Advantage to be able to self-film and edit -Ensure high-quality audio, lighting, and visuals during filming

Operational & Legal Compliance

  • Oversee shoots in studio or remote locations, troubleshooting issues as needed
  • Ensure conformity with Ofcom guidelines and editorial policies
  • Maintain safety compliance by conducting risk assessments, enforcing health & safety protocols, and completing approvals
  • Manage direct reports, approve invoices, and budgets while adherence to company approval processes

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a religious, media, or broadcast-related subject (essential)
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in broadcast production with a proven record of:
    • Creating high-quality original programming
    • Experiencing religion-specific content production
  • Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects

Desired Skills & Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of Islamic principles and methodologies for engaging storytelling
  • Ability to manage complex productions with stakeholders, multiple teams, and freelancers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Proficiency in project planning and budget management
  • Ability to film with DSLR cameras (high asset)
  • Experience in on-camera presentation (advantageous)
  • Practical fieldwork experience in filming production

Company Notes

  • Full-time: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday (with flexible availability for weekends and bank holidays)
  • Location: Head Office, London (IG2 7BS)
  • Salary: Competitive based on skill, experience, and qualifications
