Assistant Product Manager – NPD

Our NPD (New Product Development) team drives innovation by exploring new product opportunities beyond the core range. As Assistant Product Manager – NPD, you will support the development of future-focused product concepts, testing and validating new ideas, and helping transform innovation opportunities into commercially viable products. This role is hands-on, exploratory, and critical to shaping the future growth pathways of our brands.
What you’ll be doing
Innovation & Concept Exploration
- Support the development of new product concepts informed by consumer insights, emerging trends, and category whitespace.
- Assist in building concept boards, innovation briefs, and project outlines.
Product Development Support
- Work with Design, Development, and Sourcing to progress prototypes, materials, construction options, and feasibility checks for new products.
- Help manage sample rounds, testing feedback, and documentation for new concepts.
Insights & Market Validation
- Conduct trend research, competitor scanning, and consumer insight gathering to support NPD decision-making.
- Assist with product testing, consumer feedback collection, and early-stage validation studies.

Project Tracking & Documentation
- Maintain accurate NPD project documentation across PLM and internal systems.
- Support milestones, meeting notes, action lists, and timelines across multiple innovation projects.
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Support collaboration with Brand, Design, Development, Commercial, and Sustainability teams.
- Help prepare materials for NPD reviews, concept pitches, and stakeholder presentations.
What you’ll bring
- Experience or strong interest in product innovation, product development, or category research.
- Creative curiosity paired with strong organisational and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation, testing notes, and project tracking.
- Confident communication and the ability to work with cross-functional innovation teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and interest in learning PLM systems.

- Talent Team Intro Call - A 30-minute video call with our Talent Team to get to know each other, talk through the role and your experience, and answer any questions you have.
- Experience Interview - A more in-depth interview (usually online) with the hiring manager to explore your skills, experience and approach, and how these align with the role, our principles, and our ways of working.
- Final Interview - A final in-person interview at our office, focused on deeper discussion and practical application, giving you the chance to meet more of the team and see Pentland Brands in action.
