About the programme
As a result of team changes, an opportunity has arisen to join the established programme team of the Trent Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. The programme is a partnership between the Universities of Nottingham and Lincoln and three local NHS Trusts in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Our intake is 32 trainees per year, and the programme is approved by the Health & Care Professions Council and accredited by the British Psychological Society.
About the role
This post is a Clinical and Academic Tutor post, based at the University of Nottingham. The role supports two strands of the programme – clinical placements and academic teaching. It therefore presents an opportunity to get involved in a varied range of tasks. The Clinical Tutor element will require you to support trainee clinical psychologists in their clinical placements, evaluating their progress and building relationships with clinical supervisors. The Academic Tutor element of the role involves convening an academic module and includes duties related to the organisation and evaluation of teaching, academic assessment marking and pastoral support of trainee clinical psychologists.
About you
You will be a qualified Clinical Psychologist who is registered with the HCPC and eligible for Chartered Status with the BPS. Ideally you will have substantial post-qualification experience, although less experienced applicants are also encouraged to apply. You will have genuine passion for training others and a broad range of knowledge, skills and attributes that position you to work effectively in a busy, diverse role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
