The Role

As Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Automotive and Motorsport Engineering you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. Assistant Professors (Teaching) lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams.

Duties include:

  • Lead the curation, adaptation, design, and development of module and course teaching materials including Curriculum development.
  • Supervise undergraduate and/or postgraduate students projects.
  • Support the delivery of CPD courses where appropriate.
  • Visit students during the industrial placement year.
  • Collaborate with the students from the Phoenix Racing team to help them design, build, and implement powertrains for automotive and motorsport design/build project vehicles.

Qualifications Required

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate subject OR (if from a professional practice background) a good Honors Degree and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
  • A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education.
  • PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous.
  • Experience in an Automotive or Motorsport Powertrain environment is essential including an understanding of GT Suite software.

Our Successful Candidate

You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in vehicle powertrain systems with the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning, and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.

Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to generate and follow through innovative ideas, work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
