Assistant Project Accountant
Maidenhead (Hybrid Working, 3 Days in Office)
£29,000 + Bonus
The Opportunity:
We're partnering with a growing and ambitious business to recruit an Assistant Project Accountant to join their expanding finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in finance while gaining exposure to project accounting, revenue recognition, management reporting, and month-end processes.
The business is particularly keen to hear from ambitious individuals who are eager to develop their skills and work towards a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA. You'll work closely with experienced finance professionals, gaining hands-on experience across a broad range of accounting activities while receiving ongoing support and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation of monthly revenue recognition and project accounting schedules.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Produce reporting and analysis to support project performance and financial decision-making.
- Monitor timesheet submissions and help ensure costs are allocated accurately across projects.
- Raise customer invoices and support the resolution of billing queries.
- Reconcile project and financial data, investigating and resolving discrepancies where required.
- Support audit requests and maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements and automation initiatives within finance.

About You:
- Previous experience in a finance, accounts, or accounting-related role.
- A solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable communicating with stakeholders across different areas of the business.
- Enthusiastic, eager to learn, and motivated to develop a career in accounting.
- Actively studying, or keen to begin studying, towards ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
- A positive, proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of your work.
