About us

At National Gas, the work we do matters.

As Britain's national gas network, we help keep the lights on, businesses running, and homes warm by maintaining the critical infrastructure that transports gas across Great Britain. While providing the energy security Britain relies on today, we're also helping transform the network for a clean energy future.

Join us and help secure Britain's energy.

About the role

As an Assistant Project Manager, you'll help deliver major projects that keep Britain's gas transmission network operating safely, reliably, and securely. Working alongside experienced project leaders, you'll support the replacement of critical control systems across operational assets, helping to modernise infrastructure that plays a vital role in the UK's energy system.

This role sits within National Gas Transmission's Major Projects team and offers a genuine opportunity to develop a long-term career in project delivery while working on complex, high-value infrastructure programmes.

Why this role matters

The National Transmission System is critical national infrastructure, transporting gas across Britain to support homes, businesses, and industry. As control systems age, investment is essential to maintain reliability, strengthen resilience, and ensure the network continues to operate safely for years to come.

You'll play an important role in delivering these upgrades, helping to coordinate teams, manage project risks, and support the successful delivery of projects on live operational assets. Whether you're already working in projects or looking to transition from a technical background, your contribution will help shape infrastructure that underpins the UK's energy security.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
