Assistant Project Manager (Water) £35,000 - £45,000 Manchester | Primarily Office Based

About the Role

Ceto Talent is supporting a growing engineering consultancy seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join its expanding water sector team. This opportunity is ideal for someone with engineering design, design coordination, or early project management experience who is looking to take the next step into project management. You will work closely with experienced Project Managers and technical specialists while receiving structured training, mentoring, and a clear pathway towards Project Manager level.

About You

  • Design project experience is essential.
  • Experience within engineering design, design coordination, project support, or project delivery environments.
  • Degree or HND in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and project activities.
  • Water sector experience would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to NEC contracts, project programmes, cost tracking, or change management would be beneficial.

The Role

You will support the delivery of multidisciplinary engineering design projects across the UK water sector, helping ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

  • Supporting the management of multidisciplinary water and wastewater design projects.
  • Assisting with programme management, project coordination, and reporting.
  • Working closely with engineering teams and supply chain partners.
  • Updating and maintaining project programmes.
  • Supporting NEC administration and contractual requirements.
  • Assisting with commercial tracking, variations, and change management.
  • Maintaining communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting tenders and technical proposals.
  • Helping ensure effective collaboration across engineering disciplines.

Projects include water and wastewater treatment upgrades, clean water infrastructure schemes, CSO improvements, and storm storage projects for major UK water companies.
