About the Role
The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the execution of projects from Pulse Clean Energy’s BESS platform, from project acquisition to PAC, ensuring all project construction and management aspects are successfully driven. The role will report to the Construction Manager and will support other Project Managers within the team.
The role will involve regular travel to project sites across the UK (approximately 2 days per week) as well as travel to our London office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with experience in construction, infrastructure or renewable energy projects; who is looking to develop their project management career.
You will work closely with internal teams, contractors, consultants and external stakeholders to help deliver projects safely, on schedule and within budget. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously and building effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of BESS projects through development, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling and programme management activities, identifying and mitigating potential risks or delays.
- Support budget tracking, forecasting and project reporting activities.
- Maintain project documentation, records and reporting packs.
- Coordinate actions arising from project meetings and ensure timely completion.
- Build strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups.
- Act as a key point of coordination between project teams, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
- Support engagement with landowners, network operators, local authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Confidently communicate project updates to stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
- Liaise with and manage BoP, EPC and ICP Contractors ensuring contractual obligations are performed and projects’ execution is always on track.
- Manage the relationship with, and the works of the DNOs following projects handover to Pulse Clean Energy from the developer having regular meetings to coordinate technical and commercial matters related to the connection agreement.
- Monitor contractor performance against programme, quality and safety requirements.
- Coordinate site activities and ensure project information is communicated effectively.
- Manage the performance of services of consultants appointed by Pulse Clean Energy to support on the execution of the projects such as Technical Advisors, Health and Safety, and Environmental.
- Liaise internally with the operational team regarding contract documents, purchase and change orders and other contract modifications and approvals.
- Drive all HSE, Quality, Contract, Design, Construction aspects of the projects.
- Work closely with the Commercial Finance Manager and Finance Business Partner to prepare the project budget. Control and monitor the budget working closely with the Senior Project Accountant.
- Visit the site regularly to meet with contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Liaise with insurance brokers on procuring the insurance policies under the contracts and make available for review the contractor’s insurance policies under the contract for the broker’s review.
- Organise any preliminary surveys to be undertaken prior to construction commencement.
- Deal with legal advisors in case of any contractual argument to get advice on handling it.
- Manage and deal with suppliers to coordinate deliveries in case of free issue materials.

- Previous experience working on construction, infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
- Very organised, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise workload.

- Proactive and keen problem solver who can focus on appropriate detail when solving problems and propose effective solutions.
