Purpose of the Role

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of projects across the SCX business unit. Working closely with project managers and cross-functional teams, you’ll help coordinate activities, monitor progress, and ensure that project goals are met efficiently and effectively. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their project management career in a dynamic engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Support & Coordination: Assist in developing project plans, tracking milestones, and coordinating resources to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Support clear and consistent communication between internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment on objectives and timelines.
  • Risk & Issue Tracking: Help identify potential risks and maintain logs of issues and mitigation actions, escalating concerns when necessary.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, prepare progress reports, and support the Project Manager in presenting updates to senior management.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in monitoring deliverables to ensure they meet required specifications and standards.
  • Budget Monitoring: Support financial tracking by recording expenditures and assisting with budget reviews.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute ideas for improving project workflows and support the implementation of best practices.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, and other departments to foster a collaborative project environment.
  • Problem Solving: Assist in resolving day-to-day project challenges with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Effective communicator with good interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to learn from experienced project leaders.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles and tools.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with project management software is a plus.
  • Technical awareness of engineering or internet/network-based solutions is desirable.
  • Experience in a support or coordination role within engineering, construction, or manufacturing sectors is advantageous.
