Assistant Project Manager

Sheffield | Permanent | Salary dependent on experience

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for someone early in their project management career to learn from experienced leaders while playing an active role in the delivery of complex, high-profile engineering projects.

We're working exclusively with a well-established UK engineering business known for its precision, innovation and delivery on complex mechanical handling and kinetic architecture projects. Our client works with some of the most exciting names across Defence, Aerospace, Nuclear, Sports & Entertainment and Infrastructure, and continued growth means they're now looking to bring an Assistant Project Manager into the team.

The Role

Working closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams, you'll help coordinate activities, monitor progress and ensure project goals are delivered efficiently and effectively. Day to day, you can expect to:

  • Support the development of project plans, track milestones and coordinate resources to keep projects on schedule and within budget
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication between internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Help identify potential risks and maintain logs of issues and mitigation actions, escalating concerns where necessary
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, prepare progress reports and support the Project Manager in presenting updates to senior management
  • Assist in monitoring deliverables to ensure they meet required specifications and standards
  • Support financial tracking by recording expenditure and assisting with budget reviews
  • Contribute ideas for improving project workflows and support the implementation of best practice
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations and other departments to foster a joined-up project environment
  • Take a proactive, solutions-focused approach to day-to-day project challenges

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
