Assistant Project Manager

NRS Dounreay is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of multi-disciplinary decommissioning projects. Working closely with Project Managers and key stakeholders, you will help coordinate project activities, monitor performance and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

NRS Dounreay are looking for a proactive and organised Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of multi-disciplinary decommissioning projects. Working closely with Project Managers and delivery teams, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule and to the highest quality standards. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team where your contribution will directly support critical project outcomes.

What will you be doing?

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful planning, coordination and delivery of decommissioning projects throughout their lifecycle. Working with Project Managers, contractors and operational teams, you will help maintain project programmes, coordinate essential documentation and ensure projects remain aligned with safety, quality and operational requirements.

You will also monitor project performance, identify risks and opportunities for improvement, and help implement effective solutions to keep projects on track.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Supporting project plans and programme baselines, adapting activities where required to meet changing demands.
  • Supporting project commercial activities
  • Coordinating project documentation, including requirements, safety documentation, works control documentation and project reports.
  • Monitoring safety, cost, quality and schedule performance, identifying deviations and recommending corrective actions.
  • Supporting project handovers, resource planning activities and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a motivated and capable individual with a technical background and experience within an engineering, scientific or similarly regulated environment. You will be a confident communicator who enjoys working collaboratively, managing competing priorities and solving problems in a structured and practical way.

To Be Successful, You Will Ideally Have

  • An HND in Science, Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, supported by relevant practical experience.
  • Experience supporting or delivering projects within a technical, engineering, industrial or operational environment.
  • Experience in commercial processes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify issues and help drive effective solutions.
