Background

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide strategic and operational coordination for a Horizon Europe research project [https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101308946] valued at €6 million. The project involves an international consortium of leading universities, research organisations, industry partners, and other stakeholders working together to address significant scientific and societal challenges.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Principal Investigator, Work Package Leaders, and consortium partners, the assistant project manager will oversee project management, governance, reporting, and delivery, ensuring compliance with Horizon Europe requirements and supporting collaboration across the consortium.

The role coordinates effective delivery across all work packages and partner organisations, monitoring progress against objectives, milestones, deliverables, and impact targets. The postholder maintains project plans, risk registers, and governance documentation, and ensures compliance with funding and contractual requirements. Acting as a key contact for partners, they facilitate communication, coordinate meetings and consortium events, and prepare agendas, minutes, and action logs.

The postholder also oversees financial monitoring by tracking expenditure against budgets, supporting forecasting activities, coordinating financial reporting from project partners, and assisting with audits and reviews. In addition, the role coordinates the preparation and submission of reports and deliverables, monitors key deadlines, liaises with funding bodies and reviewers, and maintains accurate project documentation and records.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree and have significant project management experience within higher education, research, innovation, or funded programmes. They will have a proven ability to manage complex multi-partner projects, support international collaborations, oversee budgets and reporting, and engage diverse stakeholders. Strong project planning, organisational, analytical, and communication skills are essential, along with knowledge of the research funding landscape, particularly Horizon Europe. The candidate will be proactive, collaborative, highly organised, and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
