Equans UK is looking for an Assistant Project Manager from an infrastructure and environmental services background to join our DES business based from our Glasgow office on a hybrid working arrangement.

Role Overview

The Assistant Project Manager – Infrastructure Services supports the successful delivery of infrastructure projects within Equans across the UK and Ireland. This includes environmental monitoring, geotechnical services, environmental consulting, and multi-technical projects. The role provides operational and administrative support to project managers, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and contributing to efficient project execution.

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and monitoring infrastructure projects to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Support project governance, reporting, and documentation in line with Equans’ trading framework.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders and project teams to maintain alignment and resolve issues promptly.
  • Contribute to health, safety, and environmental compliance across all project activities.

This role is essential for strengthening project delivery capability within the infrastructure services team. By supporting senior project managers and operational leads, the Assistant Project Manager ensures projects run smoothly, risks are managed, and client expectations are met. It also serves as a talent development pathway for future project leaders.

Key activities

  • Assist in preparing project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
  • Support CVR processes and financial tracking under guidance from senior managers.
  • Coordinate project meetings, prepare reports, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Monitor progress against milestones and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Liaise with clients and internal teams to maintain clear communication and resolve queries.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical discipline is required
  • Professional development toward recognized project management certifications such as APM, PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner, or PMP
  • Knowledge of infrastructure services—including environmental monitoring, geotechnical solutions, and multi-technical projects would be beneficial
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Project, Excel, and other project management tools
