St Andrew’s has hospitals in Birmingham and Essex, with its base in Northampton. It delivers inpatient and outpatient services, as well as dedicated care services for adults.
Responsibilities
This is a unique opportunity to work as an assistant psychologist embedded in probation offices under the guidance and supervision of qualified psychologists from St Andrew's Healthcare Outpatients Service.

The National Probation Service (NPS), Oxfordshire County Councils have partnered with St Andrew’s Healthcare to deliver Community Sentence Treatment Requirements as part of a Mental Health Treatment Requirement initiative.
Within this role you will:
- Support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the Criminal Justice System (CJS)
- Provide psychological assessment and psychological interventions
- Work under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist
- Work independently according to a plan agreed with the psychologist
- Operate within the overall framework of Mental Health Treatment Requirements (MHTRs)
- Adhere to St Andrew’s policies and procedures

Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A relevant Master’s degree in psychology
- A minimum of an upper second class honours degree
- Relevant work experience
- Be eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society
Location and Travel
The role will be located across Oxford, but is primarily delivered out of a Probation Office in Oxford. Travel outside of Oxford is reimbursed separately and is typically required for training.
Other Information
You will facilitate effective communication within the NPS and other agencies that may include primary care services, specialist mental health services, social care and third sector services to ensure continuity of care across all services.
