Role: Assistant Psychologist – 6 month Fixed Term Contract

Location: Basildon, Essex

Salary: £27,118 per annum plus £1250 Essex Allowance

Full Time: 37.5 hours per week

St Andrew’s has hospitals in Birmingham and Essex, with its base in Northampton. It delivers inpatient and outpatient services, as well as dedicated care services for adults.


The role

The successful applicants will join the psychology team working on site at our Essex Hospital. Duties are varied and will assist Qualified Psychologists in psychological and behavioural assessments of patient needs, offering group and individual therapy sessions based on CBT, DBT and psycho educational models, maintaining research databases, carrying out clinical audits, delivering staff training. The psychology team plays a key role in service delivery and development, with research being a key activity with academic publications and presentations at national and international conferences.

About You

Applicants should have a minimum of an upper second-class honours degree in psychology and be eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society. Applicants with either previous experience of working within a multidisciplinary team in a clinical setting or a relevant postgraduate qualification are very welcome.

Applicants should be very competent in computer skills, research methods, have high levels of literacy and numeracy, and have great interpersonal and communication skills. Previous experience and interest in working with adults with autism, intellectual disability or offenders is advantageous, but not essential.
