The First Steps Service

The First Steps service provides an early intervention community psychology service to children and young people with mild-to-moderate emotional, behavioural and relationship difficulties. Children of all ages are referred to the service from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Please be aware that for these posts we usually receive a very large number of applications, so we have put a limit on the number that we are able to receive and the post will be closed to further applications once this is reached.

The Post Holder Will

  • Provide support for service-user initiatives, aiming to increase service user participation, improve service-user information, service-user involvement and community engagement in shaping services.
  • Assist qualified staff in setting up and co-facilitating group interventions.
  • Contribute to the co-ordination and administration of the parenting programme including liaison and planning across the network of facilitators.
  • Support the CAMHS team in developing resources, especially in relation to the parenting programme and service-user initiatives. Including supporting the development of multimedia service user led information and resources.
  • Be responsible for maintenance of First Steps databases, in relation to parenting programme and service-user initiatives.
  • Support the production of monthly and yearly performance reports.
  • Plan and organise own workload under guidance from a supervisor, and complete administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Work flexibly (independently, with other professionals, Clinical Psychologists, MDT members, wider system/agencies) to support clinical work and work as a member of a team.
  • Undertake research and personal development activities appropriate to the post, under the guidance of the line manager.
