We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our established commercial team delivering multiple refurbishment projects within a live operational environment at on site at Birmingham Airport. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile programme alongside an experienced team on complex Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works.
What you’ll be doing
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of MEP works across multiple projects. You will play a key role in maintaining cost control, managing subcontractors, and supporting the delivery of projects within a live airport setting.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the commercial team in managing MEP works across Birmingham Airport projects
- Preparation and processing of subcontractor payment applications and notices
- Raising and managing subcontract orders and purchase orders
- Liaising between accounts and the project team to resolve commercial queries
- Assisting in the compilation of cost reports for internal and external reporting
- Supporting cash flow forecasting activities
- Assisting with the measurement and valuation of works (from site and drawings), including variations and final accounts
- Providing general commercial support to the wider team
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners
What we’re looking for
Have you studied in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management but only gained limited experience in this area? This role could be your next career move if you have at least 1 year experience post qualification.

- Strong team player with the ability to also work independently
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Hardworking, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn and develop
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working with an M&E contractor or main contractor
- Experience within live or operational environments (e.g. aviation, healthcare, infrastructure)
