Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Super Prime Residential
Knightsbridge, London
Jackson Young is working with a medium-sized super-prime contractor to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for the refurbishment of a beautiful Georgian residence in Knightsbridge.
Working closely with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will gain hands-on exposure to the commercial delivery of a prestigious residential project, involving bespoke finishes, specialist trades and the attention to detail expected at this level of the market.
For the first six months, you will support a negotiated, open-book/cost-plus contract, developing your understanding of cost reporting, procurement and transparent client communication. You will then move onto a traditional JCT project, broadening your experience across different contractual and commercial approaches.
The role
You will support the Senior QS with the day-to-day commercial management of the project, taking increasing responsibility as your experience develops.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
