Assistant Quantity Surveyor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a successful, family-run Design & Build, Construction and Fit-Out contractor based in Oxfordshire.

With an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the commercial, industrial and specialist sectors, our client continues to grow whilst maintaining the supportive culture and values of a close-knit business. Their portfolio includes commercial refurbishments, industrial developments, workplace fit-outs, education schemes and highly specialised laboratory facilities, with individual project values typically ranging from £500,000 to £10 million.

The business is currently delivering a number of exciting laboratory developments within the Life Sciences sector, offering the opportunity to gain experience on technically challenging projects alongside a varied pipeline of commercial construction and refurbishment works.

The Role

Working alongside an experienced commercial team, you will assist in the commercial management of multiple construction and fit-out projects from procurement through to final account. You'll gain exposure to every stage of the commercial process while receiving ongoing support and mentoring to help develop your career.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the commercial management of projects from inception through to completion.
  • Supporting subcontractor procurement and tender analysis.
  • Preparing and managing subcontractor orders.
  • Assisting with valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Supporting the preparation of CVRs and financial reporting.
  • Monitoring project costs and budgets.
  • Assisting with subcontractor payments and commercial administration.
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors and the wider project team.

About You

  • 1-4 years' experience within the construction industry.
  • Currently working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Junior Quantity Surveyor or Trainee Quantity Surveyor.
  • Experience working for a main contractor is preferred.
  • Good commercial awareness with a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, or working towards one, would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
