Role Description

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial management of construction projects, including measurement, valuation, and cost monitoring throughout the project lifecycle. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
  • Supporting cost planning and forecasting
  • Helping to produce cost reports

The role involves liaising with project managers, site teams, and suppliers to ensure accurate cost control and timely financial reporting. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Bournemouth Area, working closely with senior quantity surveyors and the wider project team to maintain high standards of compliance and project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Ability to apply cost control and cost management principles to construction projects.
  • Experience or training in preparing and interpreting BOQs and other quantity surveying documentation.
  • Skills in cost planning and cost reporting to support budgeting, forecasting, and project financial reviews.
  • Relevant education in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (degree or equivalent preferred).
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills, with proficiency in common MS Office applications.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities for working with on-site teams, suppliers, and clients.
  • Understanding of construction processes, contracts, and commercial practices; experience in residential or commercial projects is an advantage.
  • Willingness to learn from senior professionals, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous development.
