The Company
An established and highly regarded London-based main contractor is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. With over 20 years' experience in the high-end residential refurbishment and fit-out sector, the business has developed an excellent reputation among London property professionals and private clients.
The company specialises in the refurbishment, restoration and structural alteration of some of London's most prestigious and architecturally significant properties. Its portfolio includes high-value private residences, listed buildings and complex refurbishment projects across some of the capital's most sought-after locations.

The Role
The successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will work closely with the commercial and project teams, supporting the financial and contractual management of projects from procurement through to completion.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS to gain experience on high-end, technically complex residential projects while working alongside an experienced commercial team.

Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account.
- Supporting the procurement and management of subcontractor packages.
- Preparing and issuing tender enquiries.
- Analysing subcontractor quotations and preparing tender comparisons.
- Assisting with valuations, payment applications and payment notices.
- Supporting the management and agreement of variations.
- Assisting with cost reporting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
- Monitoring project costs against budgets.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation.
- Assisting with subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
- Supporting the commercial team with contractual and financial matters.
- Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Attending commercial and project meetings as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will be an ambitious and commercially minded Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is keen to develop their career within the high-end construction sector.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience within construction, ideally with a main contractor.
- Experience in refurbishment, fit-out, residential or a similar construction environment.
- A relevant Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction qualification, or be working towards one.
- An understanding of construction costs, procurement and subcontractor management.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and general IT skills.
- The ability to work effectively within a project team.
- A professional and proactive approach.
- A genuine ambition to progress within quantity surveying.

The Opportunity
