Assistant Quantity Surveyor: Nottingham

Location: Nottingham, Nottinghamshire

Salary: Up to GBP45,000 per annum, depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

An established and growing main contractor is looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Nottingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their experience, take on greater responsibility and progress their career within a supportive and commercially focused construction business.

The company delivers a diverse range of construction projects across sectors including healthcare, retail, education and commercial offices, providing excellent exposure to different project environments and construction disciplines.

You will work closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and site teams, gaining hands-on experience across the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of client valuations and applications for payment
  • Support monthly cost reporting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Monitor project costs, budgets and commercial performance
  • Assist with subcontractor procurement and account management
  • Support the preparation of tenders and estimates
  • Assist with the management of variations and change control
  • Support contract administration and commercial reporting
  • Assist with subcontractor payments and final accounts
  • Identify and report commercial risks and opportunities
  • Maintain accurate project and commercial records
  • Work closely with site and project teams to support successful project delivery
  • Gain experience across projects within healthcare, retail, education and commercial office sectors

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within construction
  • An HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction or a related discipline
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team
