Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Major Commercial Refurbishment

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor delivering a landmark £74m commercial refurbishment and office fit-out project in the heart of Bristol.

This flagship redevelopment will transform an existing office complex into a premium, sustainable workplace, creating high-quality office accommodation alongside exceptional amenities. Working alongside an experienced commercial team, you'll gain exposure to every stage of a major refurbishment project while developing your career with a contractor renowned for delivering complex schemes.

The Role

Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll support the commercial management of the project from procurement through to final account, helping to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the commercial management of the project throughout its lifecycle.
  • Support the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Prepare valuations, cost reports and financial forecasts.
  • Assist with the management of subcontractor accounts, variations and payments.
  • Monitor project costs and help identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Work closely with the project, design and site teams to support successful delivery.
  • Help prepare final accounts and project close-out documentation.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants and the wider project team.

About You

We're looking for a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is eager to build their career within a successful main contracting environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Experience with a main contractor or specialist subcontractor.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience on commercial, refurbishment, retrofit, fit-out or construction projects.
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
