Assistant Quantity Surveyor – South
We're looking for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team in the South. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their career with a business that will support your professional development while giving you exposure to a diverse portfolio of exciting projects.
The Role
Reporting to a Quantity Surveyor and/or Commercial Manager, you'll become part of one of our regional delivery teams, supporting the commercial management of projects from inception through to completion.
Working closely with project teams, you'll help ensure projects are delivered commercially, contractually and financially, while gaining valuable experience across all aspects of quantity surveying.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the preparation of accurate commercial reports, cost forecasts and financial updates.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of client valuations.
- Supporting subcontract procurement activities.
- Preparing subcontract documentation in line with company procedures.
- Assisting with the management of subcontract accounts, payments and variations.
- Helping ensure contractual obligations are administered in accordance with client contracts.
- Working collaboratively with operational, engineering and design teams to identify commercial opportunities and manage project risks.
- Supporting change control and commercial management processes.
- Liaising with Quantity Surveyors, Commercial Managers and Project Directors on project performance and commercial matters.
- Attending project meetings and contributing to successful project delivery.

Essential
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 2 years' experience within a Quantity Surveying or commercial environment.
- Currently studying towards a recognised Quantity Surveying qualification (BSc, MSc, HND or an approved vocational route such as the RICS Certificate in Quantity Surveying Practice), if not already qualified.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative project team.
Desirable
- A recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying (BSc, MSc, HND or equivalent).
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary construction or engineering project teams.
