Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: Worksop
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
An established and growing construction business is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop a long-term career in quantity surveying, working alongside experienced professionals across a varied portfolio of construction projects.
The successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will receive ongoing support and development, gaining exposure to all aspects of the commercial function while taking on increasing responsibility as their experience grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation.
- Support the measurement and valuation of completed works.
- Assist with applications for payment and final accounts.
- Support subcontractor procurement, valuations, and payments.
- Monitor project costs and assist with financial reporting.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
- Attend site visits and project meetings when required.
- Support senior members of the commercial team with day-to-day quantity surveying activities.
- Assist with early warning notices and compensation events.
- Support cost value reconciliations, allocations, and investigation work.
- Help prepare and present weekly budgets and cost value reconciliations.
- Update and monitor commercial action trackers.
- Complete daily business reconciliations.
- Ensure commercial processes comply with contractual requirements and company procedures.

About You
To be successful in this Assistant Quantity Surveyor role, you will ideally have:

- A degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline, or be working towards one.
- Some industry or placement experience within quantity surveying or commercial construction.
- A good understanding of construction and commercial processes.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good time management and attention to detail.
- An interest in developing your knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
